• Use furniture or walk on carpeting affected by the fire or puff back.
• Use food items or canned goods exposed to heat, smoke or soot.
• Turn on computer, stereo’s, electronic appliances, TV’s until they can be cleaned or checked.

The term “Furnace Puffback” refers to the sudden expulsion of soot into the dwelling area caused by a malfunction in the heating system. This soot consists primarily of petroleum-based particles formed by previously incomplete combustion. Unless this soot is removed quickly, utilizing professional cleaning products and methods, permanent damage may occur, increasing the cost of the damage.
